Nissan Prices Juke Crossover from £12,795 in Britain

Nissan's controversially styled Juke compact crossover model will be priced from £12,795 OTR when it goes on sale in the UK in late September, the automaker announced today.

This means that Nissan is targeting buyers in the supermini segment with the Juke. For example, the new Ford Fiesta starts from £11,645, but that's the price for the entry-level three-door model with a puny 60HP 1.25-liter petrol unit. The basic version of the Juke is powered by a 117-horsepower 1.6-liter petrol engine.

In the UK, the Juke will be offered with a choice of three engines. Aside from the 117HP 1.6L which can be matted to either a five-speed manual or a CVT, there's a 110HP 1.5-litre dCi turbo diesel linked to a 6-speed manual, and a range-topping 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol with direct-injection that puts out an impressive 190HP and 240Nm of peak torque.

The 117HP 1.6-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel are only available with front wheel drive, while the 1.6L Turbo model is available with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual or with all-wheel drive and a CVT.

There are three trim levels to choose from (depending on the engine) - Visia, Acenta and Tekna. The entry-level Visia starts from £12,795 and comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, ESP, six airbags, sports seats and air conditioning.

The Acenta spec is available from £13,795 and adds 17-inch alloys, climate control, Bluetooth with USB connectivity and the Nissan Dynamic Control System.

Finally the range-topping Tekna starts from £15,795 adding leather upholstery, Nissan Connect, a reversing camera, Intelligent Key with engine start button and more.

Nissan said that it will begin accepting orders for the Juke in June.

Nissan Recalling ‘09 Murano & ‘08 Infiniti EX35 SUVs

The Japanese carmaker has issued a recall for 16,365 MY 2008 Infiniti EX35 and MY 2009 Nissan Murano vehicles due to incorrect software programming of the airbag control unit (ACU). The faulty software could result in the passenger airbag not inflating in a crash in which it was designed to do so thus increasing the risk of injury. Nissan and Infiniti dealers will reprogram the ACU in affected vehicles at no extra cost.

New Infiniti G Sedan Hybrid Prototype

Following in the footsteps of Lexus, Nissan is testing a high-performance rear-wheel drive hybrid system on the Infiniti G35 / G37 Sedan. Developed in house by Nissan, the parallel-powertrain system comprises a system with two clutches, where one motor is directly connected to an engine and transmission via two separate clutches. Depending on the driving conditions, the motor switches between the two clutches to optimise and conserve energy utilisation as well as improve fuel-efficiency. -Continued

Interestingly, Nissan has equipped the Infiniti G Hybrid with lithium-ion rather than nickel-metal hydride batteries which are charged by the engine or via the energy created from braking.

Renault-Nissan's 3.0 V6 Diesel will be offered on Nissan Maxima and Infiniti Range

The Renault-Nissan alliance has released further details on the availability of its brand-new 3.0-liter V6 dCi turbo diesel engine that made its debut in the Laguna Coupe at the 2008 Paris Motorshow, in October. This engine is the first V6 diesel powerplant developed and produced by the alliance which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2009. Concerning Nissan, the 3.0 V6 dCi will be available in the U.S by 2010 on the new Maxima and in Europe, on the Pathfinder and Navara. The group also said that the diesel engine will be offered on the latest Infiniti EX and FX crossovers and the M sedan models sold in Europe.

In what concerns Renault, the V6 diesel is already available on Laguna Coupe, and will soon be offered on Laguna Hatch and Laguna Sport Tourer. The specific motor will also equip other vehicles in the future, as the new V6 dCi has been conceived for use in various types of vehicles and it can be adapted to various environmental regulations, such as the Euro5 or the Californian regulations.

In the Renault Laguna Coupe, the 3.0 V6 dCi delivers an output of 235HP and 450 Nm (332.9 lbs-ft) of torque, but the automaker said that it will offere more powerful versions, as it has been estimated that the V6 diesel can crank out up to 265HP and 550 Nm (405.7 lbs-ft) of torque when put longitudinally on a car.

Made in China: Nissan 300ZX - Lamborghini Murcielago Hybrid

It appears that the popularity of automotive crossbreeding in China has spread out to domestic tuning companies like Max Power Sports (MPS) which has created the above Frankensteinian hybrid of a Nissan 300ZX and a Lamborghini Murcielago. The four-wheel abomination is based on the early-mid 90s 300ZX 2+2 with MPS adding a Murcielago inspired rear-end compartment and front bumper complemented with side air-vents and Lamborghini-style scissor doors. Something tells us that we've yet to see the worst from China...
